You don't have to be crazy to talk to yourself! We all talk to ourselves all of the time, usually without realising it. And most of what we tell ourselves is negative, counterproductive and damaging, preventing us from enjoying a fulfilled and successful life. Shad Helmsetter's simple but profound techniques, based on an understanding of the processes of the human brain, have enabled thousands of people to get back in control of their lives. By learning how to talk to yourself in new ways, you will notice a dramatic improvement in all areas of your life. You will feel better and accomplish more. It will help you achieve more at work and at home, lose weight, overcome fears, stop smoking and become more confident. And it works. Shad Helmsetter, Ph.D, is a bestselling author of many personal growth books, and the leading authority in the field of Self-Talk.

What Customers Say About What to Say When you Talk To Yourself:

Excellent book.Truthful, simple, and to the point. The text covers everyone who would like self improvement with a pattern change about how you speak to yourself in harm-ful and helpful ways. Good read for many areas of life.

I figured, what the heck, why not. I'll never forget that, that moment when I realized that you can really change a lot just by changing how you talk to yourself.A downside of this book is that you might become hyper-aware of other people's self talk, and it may be distracting. A friend of mine recommended this book, and as a self-help junkie, I had to check it out since it had all these 5-star reviews. They all helped somewhat, but not enough to get over the hopeless hill of depression. I have read a lot of self-help books ever since I was diagnosed with depression. It's the one that has helped me change and make a real difference in my life. My mind and body felt relaxed, and carefree--just by reading words off of a page. After reading the "Freedom from Worry" script, I was surprised to notice that I felt different after reading it.

I just want to tell them that they don't have to do that. What I read made sense, but I didn't apply it to anything. I went on medication, and I tried out different types of therapy. I nearly cringe every time I heard say something about themselves that enforces negative programming. The first time I read it, I read maybe three chapters of it. So, I put the book down and forgot about it.The second time around, I got all the way through to the chapters with the self-talk scripts. The scripts are excellently written, the vocabulary he uses is charged with positivity and you'll find that you will be too after reading them. This book is "the book" for me. It may not be the best-selling, newest release out there, but it is very effective and helpful if you open yourself up to it.

I created a set of positive self-talk for myself on motivation and confidence, and have been listening to it for the past 43 days, with not much result. I want to believe that what Shad says about reprogramming yourself is true, but the evidence just isn't there so far. I will continue until the 70 days are up(in the book he said he lost 25 lbs in 70 days) and then maybe try some of the scripts directly from his book.

This is a fundamental book. This book does. The quality of a person's life begins with how they talk to themselves, and it ultimately determines how they feel and act. This sounds obvious, but a lot of other books don't focus on minute by minute of self-talk. It also gives an action plan on changing or modifying self-talk. This book not only helped me to understand some source of problems in my life, it also helped my friends as I discussed it with them.

Basically, Helmstetter lies out the tenets of the law of attraction but calls it positive self talk. I am constantly recommending this book to anyone interested in the law of attraction or self help. If you are trying to introduce the law of attraction to a skeptic, this is the book to suggest. This is a more cognitive and scientific approach to the LOA than most others and more importantly, IT WORKS. This book is easy to practice and will change your life.
